Welcome to our DT block!

Over the next few days, we shall be looking at earth-quake resistant buildings. We will be researching, designing, building and evaluating.

To begin today, take a minute to think about the following questions.

Which countries will need these?

How could a building become earthquake resistant?

Today, we are going to do some research into one of the most amazing buildings on Earth – the Burj Khalifa.

The Burj Khalifa is mind-boggling! Using the internet, copy and answer these questions to find out more about it.

• How many floors are there? 
• How tall in meters? 
• How many Eiffel tours (to the nearest Eiffel tour) would you need to stack to make the Burj Khalifa? 
• How long did it take to build?
• What country is it in? 
• Why designed it? 

On Monday, you are going to begin designing your own earthquake-resistant building.
