Spanish

"Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things."
Flora Lewis

What is the purpose of Spanish?

At All Saints’, our modern foreign language that we teach is Spanish. We teach this in KS1 and KS2 to ensure our children are provided with a languages curriculum that develops their skills and understanding through regularly taught lessons. Our children progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary which is taught through a range of topics. Our teaching is supported through the Language Angels scheme of work.

Our aim is to instil and develop pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. It enables our pupils to understand and respond in another language, in both a written and speaking format. We want to provide a foundation for learning further languages.

MFL Subject Lead: Mrs Sheppard

Mrs Sheppard has led MFL at All Saints' since September 2021. In that time, she has enjoyed reshaping the MFL curriculum to ensure pupils at our school are taught basic language skills alongside a continuously growing vocabulary in both KS1 and KS2.
