Sport Premium Funding

The government currently provides additional funding to primary schools to improve the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The funding is ring-fenced for the sole purpose of providing PE and sport provision in schools.

Use of the Sports Premium at All Saints’ C of E (VA) Primary School:

Last year (2018/19) the funding for All Saints’ was £18262.   This was allocated in the following ways:

£8890 was spent on the employment of specialised sports coaches who, in addition to providing high-quality PE sessions for the children, provided training for teachers and support staff.

£2350 was spent on the employment of specialist Sports Instructors to teach after school sports sessions. These were offered free to children as a result of being funded by the Sport’s Premium.

£2955 was spent on JIGSAW PHSE health and relationship education. This was used to promote healthy living, resilience and mindfulness across the school.

£102 was spent on sports’ clothing and equipment.

£70.00 was spent on membership of the Harwich & District Primary Sports Association (HSA).

The impact of the funding at All Saints’ is:

  • Our after school sports clubs always run at 100% capacity.
  • The school football team reached the semi-finals of the Fisherman’s Cup and competed in the top division of local schools football.
  • The Girls’ Swimming Squad finished second in the annual HSA Swimming Gala.
  • In addition, teams from the school competed in tournaments in  tag rugby, scatterball, netball and the District Sports Athletics. Where required Sport’s Premium funding was used to transport teams to venues and fixtures.
  • Our PE lead is able to attend HAS meetings to coordinate school sports’ activities with PE leads from other schools.
